Digital media production- What have I learned?

So far in this class I have learned the basics of using Adobe Audition and audio production. I had little to no experience with audio production prior to this class so the editing aspects of audio production and using Adobe Audition is confusing to me. I think with time and practice it’s something I’ll get better at just because right now I don’t have the foundation to be good at it. I’ve learned how to record audio properly. When you mess up on a clip or stumble over your words, start over and your mess up is something you can edit out later. When your mic is “hot” is when the audio is in the red because you’re speaking too loudly or you are close to the microphone. It’s important not to talk over the person you are interviewing, interrupt them, or even verbally agree with what they are saying because that’s something you can’t edit out in post production without editing them talking out. What I’ve found most helpful and intriguing is that you also shouldn’t look at people when interviewing them as eye contact can be distracting and cause them to say less, instead hold the mic up to them and look at the ground or away. It’s best to interview people in an area that isn’t noisy or crowded as you will pick up background noise that can be distracting or not able to fully remove. At things like sports games, sometimes background noise is unavoidable. There are ways to lessen background noise in post production.
